Exploring racial Division from a nondual perspective

This introductory talk is for spiritual seekers who are interested in learning more about the problem of racial division from a nondual lens. How might we increase our capacity to relate to ourselves and others in a racialized world? How can we create space to feel less shame and blame in racially charged spaces? The goal of this gathering is to contribute to our individual and collective awakening and healing, particularly as it relates to racial division. The lecture will also include simple practices to soften our hearts and to meet what's here with more spaciousness and presence.

living from wholeness: an introduction to nonduality

In this two-class series we will journey into the experience of Nonduality beyond the conceptual, where everything, including our human difficulties, can be experienced as part of our greater wholeness.  To experience this Wholeness, we learn that our personal selves, including our difficulties and suffering, need a home as well. That home is where our humanness and the Absolute touch and it is where the gift of nonduality is experienced. We will use meditation, lecture, inner reflection, spiritual practice and dyad work to immerse you in the place where our humanity and the divine meet. Class 1 will focus on the personal experience of wholeness, while Class 2 will reinforce what we experience in class 1 as well as bring that experience into relationship with another human being. We will begin as separate beings exploring the interface of our flawed humanness and the Great Oneness, ultimately bringing us into the truth, that we are indeed separate beings, flaws and all, and simultaneously an integral part of the interconnected web of life.

Dialogues with Amitabha

We all long to be whole and who we truly are. And we all struggle. We notice we are limited, separate, sometimes foolish beings. We can never be finished. But can we still be whole? Many of us suffer from blaming ourselves and trying to "overcome" our imperfections. Has our idea of wholeness or enlightenment become another form of perfectionism, a spiritual version of it?

This workshop is for all of us foolish beings.

Together, we will explore one of the deepest aspects of nonduality. When oneness and separateness can coexist and depend upon each other, who we truly are arrives.

Come and join us for three online meetings.

Each meeting will deal with a separate concept from the Dialogues with Amitabha. You can register for one or more of the classes, but we suggest taking the entire series. It will be helpful—but not a requirement—to have a copy of Jason’s book: Ecstatic Speech: Expressions of True Nonduality and read the short chapter called “Dialogues with Amitabha.” You can purchase the book by clicking here.

THE SILENT BODY

The silent body is without thought, beneath story and beyond conceptualization.  Because it is these things, it is the province of the Great Mother, Shakti. -Jason Shulman

Over the past centuries in many spiritual traditions the body was left out or to be transcended or suppressed. This was different in the beginnings of mankind. It’s time for us to return to it: What wholeness could there be that leaves out important aspects of our human nature?  In our everyday life we usually experience our body as “Body in history,” carrying the echos of the past. Our historical defenses seek to dissociate us from our body. Yet when we move beneath story and beyond conceptualization, we settle into the “silent body.” This is also a healing state. As we move more fully into feeling our body, we move more fully into feeling our spirituality.  This work is deeply seated in the belief that the body and the spirit are a single thing. This does not mean they are identical, but that they are subtly different facets of a unifying condition.  In this workshop we will let  music, nature sounds and silence guide us towards our own  silent body. We will explore wholeness in the body and body as wholeness. There will be short lectures, bodymeditations, sometimes movement. We will sit, sometimes stand and move, often lay down or gently move on the ground, in the comfort of your home.  So please prepare mats or blankets and a cushion.

Each meeting of the Silent Body class will deepen the exploration of the text by Jason Shulman. You can register for any number of these sessions, but we suggest taking the entire series. It will be helpful—but not a requirement—to have a copy of Jason’s book: Ecstatic Speech: Expressions of True Nonduality and read the short chapter called “The Silent Body.” You can click here to purchase the book.

Nina Koren has worked internationally as a healer and journalist. She has led in-person support groups with participants from all over the world and online support groups during the pandemic. She has trained directly with Jason Shulman in Nondual Shamanism and also studied Nondual Kabbalistic Healing at A Society of Souls.
